FAQ

1. Why Vacuum Seal Food?

Exposure to air causes food to spoil quicker, causes freezer burn, mold, staleness, and rancidity. The Keepeez vacuum seal LID, like FoodSaver and seal-a-meal and other vacuum packaging system, removes air and seals in flavor and quality. With a full line of Keepeez LIDS (ranging from 3.5″ for vacuum sealing cups, glasses and cans) and LID+DISH sets (ranging from 1 cup to 4 QT) to expand your food storage options, you can now enjoy the benefits of a scientifically-proven method that keeps food fresh up to five times longer.

2. What are the differences between Keepeez and other vacuum seal systems such as FoodSaver and Seal-a-meal system?

First, Keepeez Lid enables you to vacuum seal food in your own food bowls, platters, canisters and cans, while FoodSaver, Seal-a-meal requires you to transfer food from your original containers to a special disposable plastic bag or a special vacuum canister.

Second, all existing vacuum food sealers such Food saver or seal-a-meal system require electricity, while Keepeez LIDs and LID+DISH sets requires no electricity and can thus be used anywhere.

Third, all existing vacuum food sealers such Food saver or seal-a-meal system are time-consuming and inconvemnient to use, while Keepeez LIDs and LID+DISH sets are just as fast and convenient to use as a traditional glass lid.

Forth, all existing vacuum food sealers such Food saver or seal-a-meal system uses expensive disposable vacuum bags, which costs money and is not good to environment. Keepeez Lids are reusable and durable, thus saving your money and being friendly to environment.

3. What material is used in the Keepeez LID that makes it so strong and durable?

It is a food safe elastomer material that is originally invented for bullet-proof glass and space programs. The material is so strong that it can be stretched more than 200%, and it will not break if you poke it with your finger or even your finger nails.

4. Can I use my Keepeez LIDS with plastic containers?

Yes. The Keepeez LIDS will vacuum seal to plastic, ceramic, glass and metal containers or dishes.

5. I cannot produce any vacuum seal in the dish with my Keepeez LID. What should I do?

Please make sure the dish’s rim is flat. A non-flat rim will prevent the Keepeez LID from producing a vacuum in the dish. If you find the dish’s rim is not flat, please switch to a dish with a flat rim and press the LID’s center firmly into the dish to produce a vacuum. If the dish’s rim is flat, but you still cannot produce enough of a vacuum, please go to the answer for Question 3 below.

6. I could not produce enough of a vacuum with my Keepeez LID. What should I do?

To generate a deeper vacuum or lock out more air, lift the LID handle for one to two seconds with one hand while pressing the center of the LID firmly into the dish with your other hand. Make sure you release the handle before you stop pressing the center.

7. My Keepeez LID seems to lose its vacuum seal quickly. What should I do?

Before placing the Keepeez LID on a dish, make sure the dish’s rim is free of cracks, food and debris. Cracks, food or debris on the dish’s rim can cause leakage between the rim and the LID, thus causing a loss of vacuum. If the dish’s rim has cracks, please switch to a different dish. If there is food or debris on the dish’s rim, please clean the dish’s rim with warm water and dish detergent.

Cooking or overheating food in a microwave oven shouldn’t a damage Keepeez LID, however, such uses can cause the LID’s center to become flabby. If the LID’s center becomes flabby, washing it in a dishwasher or under hot tap water will remove the flabbiness. If there are no cracks, food or debris on the dish’s rim. Please check whether the transparent part of the LID was damaged or punctured by sharp objects during use. If so, please use a different Keepeez LID for the dish.

8. One of my Keepeez LIDS became a little flabby after I used it in my microwave oven several times. Will it recover its original state?

Yes. You can make it recover by either washing it in a dishwasher or under hot tap water.

9. Do I need to release the LID’s vacuum seal before heating the food in a microwave oven?

No. The Keepeez LID is designed to automatically release the vacuum in the dish when heated in a microwave.

10. Can I use the LID on a stove top, in the oven or under a browning element?

No. The high heat from the stove, oven or browning element could melt the LID.

11. Will sharp objects or abrasive cleaners damage the LID?

Please check whether the transparent part of the LID was damaged or punctured by sharp objects during use. If so, please use a different Keepeez LID for the dish.
